MISS POTTER is an enchanting love story inspired by the life of Beatrix Potter - the most successful children’s author of all time. In March 2021, Amy embarked on a journey to record the stories of Forty Farms in the Lake District and Cumbria, at a pivotal moment for British agriculture.

In 2020, I set out on a 12-month project to tell the story of Forty Farms, each one located somewhere in Cumbria. The photographs captured by Bateman tell the compelling stories of 40 farmers as they go about their day-to-day lives in one of the UK ’ s best loved mountain landscapes, the Lake District. Forty Farms is a touring exhibition that comes to the South Lakes from Rheged Gallery in the north of the county. A Lake District farm is set to appear in BBC’s flagship countryside show Countryfile on Sunday 15th August at 6. Images from the book also form the basis for a major FREE exhibition in the Gallery at Rheged, Penrith, which runs until 04th January 2023.

The Forty Farms exhibition will be in the Gallery, Rheged, Penrith LA8 9NB from now until 4 January 2023.
