They’re also a painter and modeller’s dream; if you’re looking for a visually impressive army which personifies the gothic weirdness of 40k, this is the faction for you. The benediction of the God-Emperor shines down upon those warriors that fight in His name. On the tabletop, His power is revealed in miraculous deeds of fortitude and divine strength, known as Acts of Faith . Each unit can perform one Act per phase – but first, your army will have to earn Miracle dice. At just 45 points, this pious heroine is quite a bargain and the perfect lieutenant for your Canoness when she’s got other duties to attend to (namely, crushing skulls in the Emperor’s name). Doubling the model count can really make it hard for the enemy to actually take any objectives from you! Palatine Rejoice the Fallen works great for standard Battle Sisters, but if you really want to punish your foe for their blasphemy, use it on a Retributor Squad to reply by unleashing a barrage of heavy weapons. Remember, every slain warrior brings you closer to benefiting from The Blood of Martyrs… The Word from the Studio

A third of these units sit comfortably within the same price range – and so drive up the overall value of the box, price wise and miniature number wise. Boarding Patrol: Adepta Sororitas – Points All your warriors are happy to die for the Emperor – and if not, some psycho-stimulants and invasive conditioning will surely change their minds – but those of the Hallowed Martyrs Detachment are particularly overjoyed to join the Golden Throne. As each squad takes casualties, The Blood of Martyrs sends them into a fervent frenzy. They have a strong move, decent Strength, save, and Toughness. With only 4 wounds a pop, the damage reduction is really nice, hopefully with the 2+ save they will be able to survive some shooting. Overall, not a bad statline, we’ll just have to wait for points on them to see how effective they will be. The only caveat to throw out in this section is that there does seem to have been a concerted effort to shake up the tactics used by existing lists, and experienced Sororitas players will need to change up their playstyles a bit. Notably, it’s much harder to build an unshiftable anvil of infantry (as you cannot boost Shield of Faith to 4++ widely, and get a toned down Valorous Heart/Imagifier interaction), and the hyper-efficient trade units have either been toned down or are harder to use. You can’t rely as much on surgically neutralising your opponent’s best stuff and having them break on your anvil – you need a more proactive plan to take the fight to them. Happily, plenty of the new and improved units support that! Hot Takes LiamA Leap of Faith – No Mercy, No Respite: At the end of each turn, you gain 1 point if you performed 2 or more Acts of Faith, or 2 points if it was your opponent’s turn. You gain an additional point for performing 3 or more. Acts with Cherubs don’t count, and you can score a maximum of 12 points. The fearsome Dogmatas uphold righteousness among their fellow Sisters, and while we’ve seen just why their allies fear and respect them in equal measure, it’s worth knowing that their enemies have just as much reason to stay away from these exceptional warriors. Each blessing has two parts; the first is an always-on ability, while the second is a “Miraculous ability” which can be used once per game – they’re activated in your Command phase and then last until your next Command phase. You use these by spending a Miracle dice, with the value determining what range your ability has – discard a 1 and the ability has a 1” range, a 2-5 and it has a 3” range, while a 6 will give you a mighty 6” to work with. Notably, these are explicitly not auras, so they are not affected by abilities which increase aura ranges – but also can’t be disabled by anti-aura abilities. This works great for all of the units in your army, from infantry to tanks – but just imagine how hard Saint Celestine will hit once a foolish enemy takes out her two Geminae Superia.** Unit Spotlight

A fair number of the relics from the last codex return unchanged, or with only minor tweaks – most confusingly, the Blade of Admonition is now a Crusade relic, but there’s an identical weapon in the regular relics section called the Blade of Saint Ellynor. There’s a mix here of buffs and nerfs; Wrath of the Emperor goes down to AP-1 and Litanies of Faith becomes once per battle round instead of once per turn, but the Iron Surplice now gives +1 wound on top of its previous effect. Each blessing can only be used once per battle, so make sure your Canoness or Palatine of choice is geared up to take the best advantage of it before you get started. The Canoness and Palatine remain much the same, and with the advent of Morvenn Vahl your reasons for taking them are likely going to be either:While they’ve been taken down a notch I’ve always been a big fan of the Bloody Rose, and I think there’s still plenty you can do with them in here. This is what I’ve put together to show off a mixture of the new models and some upgraded favourites: While getting new minis is pretty great, having the points for ones you already have is even better. Since the points weren’t in the box for the Palatine, GW is releasing them. For only 45 points, she isn’t a bad deal. Sisters of Battle Celestian Sacresants & Palatine Points The big test for the list would likely be whether the warsuits held up, but fully supported as they are here I’m definitely interested in giving them a go! Wrap Up Next up on the Epic Hero train is Junith Eruita . She no longer has the OoML keyword, since subfactions are mostly gone. She also lost her reroll abilities, but gained some very interesting ones. Now if she is leading a unit, she grants that unit -1 to hit, which has some potential for neat combos, like hopping into a Celestian Sacresant unit to make it extra durable. Her other ability grants 1CP if she is on the table at the start of your command phase, which is just wild. Bring her and just get free CP, seems good. She can lead Battle Sisters or Celestian Sacresants, and doesn’t have anything that would stop her from getting into a transport now. So put her with some Sacresants in a rhino for extra funny pulpit popping out shenanigans.
