The hospital screws who initially examined him had decided that he needed to go out as he was bleeding and in serious pain. I would not read this again but if anyone said to me life inside is too easy this is one book I would say you have to read to find out what the guards have to put up with, how the prisoners treat other prisoners. Long hours, short staffed, poorly paid, low morale and the handing over by the authorities of the facility to the inmates, a recipe for disaster. How are we supposed to rehabilitate those in our prisons when the people in charge can’t behave like role models. Fascinating, disturbing, and eye-opening, this was a real mix of heart-breaking stories, facts, and anecdotes, and the author's dry sense of humour shone through.

This particular lifer was very quiet, kept himself to himself, but known to have a violent streak, Even with my limited medical knowledge, I knew that anyone who can eat a live budgerigar – yes, he actually popped a live budgie into his mouth, crunched, chewed, swallowed and was then quite literally spitting feathers – was likely in need of some psychological attention. The first mystery in a new classic crime series from Frances Brody, the bestselling author of the Kate Shackleton mysteries. As an ex patient of the Priory hospital and a current Open University student, reading prison to be a combination of the two made me laugh out loud. This book is not for the fainthearted there are areas of this book that literally leave you speechless, but also there is great humour in what must be a very difficult dark job. this book was split into sections making it easy to read and has parts that were worthwhile and genuinely interesting. After watching many prison documentaries has made me question how much of this information is accurate and actually does happen.

I think I was expecting more 'gritty' stories from behind bars, rather than the 'red tape' side of things. From dealing with inmate violence and clearing out defiled prison cells to the unsavoury nature of prison language and life, this is an even more detailed look inside Britain's most infamous prison. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. Hell yeah it can be incredibly rewarding occasionally you may have a success you never see again but most of the time it's a revolving door with the same old faces revisiting unable to break their programming wasting their existence with incarceration !

It’s for the reader to decide if that’s for the better or worse, however this author also a serving officer is very outdated for today’s standards. His first book, Inside Parkhurst, was an instant Sunday Times bestseller and helped to raise awareness for the ongoing problems within our prison service. How can prisoners be rehabilitated when they have such a background that has not cared for them, Not society but their families. Divided into three parts - the first from David's early years on the wings, the second the middle of his career and the third his disillusioned later years - David will take listeners into the heart of life inside and shine a light on the escalating violence and the impact the government cuts are having on the wings.Assaults, Riots, Cell Fires, Medical Emergencies, Understaffed Wings, Suicides, Hooch, Weapons and the dreaded Spice. If your idea of fun is listening to your grandfather regale you with stories about his brilliance, and the inferiority and incompetence of the rest of the world, this one's for you. I nside Parkhurst is his raw, uncompromising look at what really goes on behind the massive walls and menacing gates. Both horrifying and hilarious, David's diaries are guaranteed to shock and entertain in equal measure. There is a handy glossary at the back of the book as there are a lot of acronyms which you will need to get your head round but even if you don't look at the glossary this does not detract from the story in anyway.

It seems difficult to help those with serious problems without all other prisoners exploiting the help, so I really sympathise that his job must be arduous. It really opened my eyes and my mind to what life is really like inside such a notorious, high-security prison. There’s no sympathy for any of the unfortunate inmates, the mental health issues or the manifold failures that include these with the truly bad.
