Students compete in UK Maths Team Challenge

By Mr Chohan, Head of Maths

Congratulations to Charlotte Lampe (9CJP), Amelie Morgan (9KXI), Tiana Falla (8OLJ) and Kate Burke (8JMS) for representing Beaconsfield High School in the Junior Maths Team Challenge in which 25 Buckinghamshire regional schools competed. In a highly competitive atmosphere, our girls held their own very well, showing their mathematical talents. They achieved a very commendable 5th place in the competition, which was challenging, not only their mathematical thinking and problem solving skills, but also the ability to work under time pressure both individually and as a team.

The competition comprised of team puzzles, cross numbers, shuttle tasks and a team relay. Amongst the questions were puzzles like "In a 12 hour period, how many times are the minute and hour hands of a clock perpendicular to each other?”.   It was a remarkably good achievement and we are immensely proud of them.
