Y13 Brexit Debate
Last Friday, 4 Year 13 students Jodie Bates, Eemaan Sangay, Charlotte Spruzen and AJ Selfridge took part in a debate on Brexit . This was in order to educate our year, particularly those who will be able to vote in the referendum, about the issues in regards to Britain’s possible exit from the European Union.
The debate took a similar form to Question Time, allowing other students to input their views or ask the panelists questions, and two more students - Nikita Julius and Rebecca Jurdon – chaired the debate. We covered the issues of economics, international relations, immigration and legislation. In the end, the votes were 95 in favour of staying in the EU and 35 in favour of Brexit. We saw an excellent debate from both panels and we hope that the session will have encouraged many people to research the issue and vote in the referendum.
