In fact, these are ranked rather highly on my most comfortable headphones of all-time list, and I’ve always likened them to receiving a warm hug from an old friend. However, the HD6xx/650 have a thicker appeal in tonality, which makes them sound heftier, more weighted. Maybe they might’ve liked empire ears zeus, so afterwards all of their tunings will be different kinds of midrange holes. They don’t feel extremely sturdy or like they could take a ton of damage, but they don’t feel like they’re gonna fall apart on you out of nowhere either.

It's a perfect set-up, the only time I've found it inadequate was with some classical recordings, where I can't get the bass instruments loud enough, even with the bass and midbass EQs cranked. Still, the 58X is more than a viable candidate for gaming and does really well all things considered.The string bass, timpani and pipe organ lows can be heard, but they aren't as loud as they should be. Due to the clearer focus on the upper mids due to the somewhat restrained lower treble range compared to the HD6XX, the absolute balance gets a bit lost, but still, the HD58X strives for a neutral sound with a slight warmth. It's a headphone that sounds good (not excellent), and suits general use with music, gaming, watching youtube. Still, the pattern manifests itself on quite a number of songs so I’m inclined to think the 58X is just a little overexcited at times, like your 8-year-old who just drank an entire 2-liter of Surge and won’t stop talking. The HD58X is a bit more ‘dynamic’ and ‘fresher’ and thus do not sound the same but do have some similarities.

The 58X is definitely the most “fun” or “colored” sounding out of the 3, while the 650 is assuredly the warmest and most “syrupy”. Overall the 58x is a headphone that will do well at almost any genre, thanks to its extended bass and beautiful midrange.I've been using HD58x on RME ADI-2 with Oratory's EQ profile and have been happy overall, but recently felt the treble on HD58x is a bit too grainy/rough and I've been preferring speakers for music listening.
