With the impending invasion of the enemy, King Jehoshaphat called upon the people of Judah to seek God. When we ask for the ‘hand of the Lord’, what we are asking and seeking is God’s presence and protection in our lives. A Heart To Invest In God’s Kingdom This short prayer of the apostle Paul is rich. We learn that the fountain of joy and peace is our God of hope. This God of hope is able to give us not a little joy and peace, but all joy and peace. And the result of filling us with peace and joy in believing is that we abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus did not hesitate to take his petition up to God even though he knows he can talk about it to his disciples. However, Jesus knows that God is the only way and source of comfort that he needs. In times of trouble, we can always turn to our friends and family, but who we truly need is only God. God’s Will Above OursBeing angry is a valid and just emotion. It is okay to get angry. Jesus got angry too. In Matthew 21:12-17 and John 2: 13-17 where he found the people of Jerusalem had turned God’s temple into a marketplace. Jesus got angry and overturned tables because they have defiled the holiness of the temple courts. Be Angry, But Do Not Sin Life can be very hard and tiresome indeed. There’s so much trouble happening in the world right now. Sometimes we wonder where to get that extra push and how to soldier on through our daily struggles. All these answers we seek only lead us to one thing: an unshakeable faith in God. But, his powerful prayers in the bible are also commendable and one that we should all practice as well. Here, he prayed a prayer for forgiveness , confessing the sins of his people on their behalf. One of the most significant and powerful prayers in the Bible is Jabez’s prayer for strength and protection in the book of Chronicles. From 1 Chronicles 4: 2-21, Jabez was mentioned as part of Judah’s genealogy. The author of Chronicles gave a short history of Jabez’s name and his short prayer to God. Although short, it was also a powerful prayer for protection . He believed that he had a great purpose to accomplish, and he asked God to help. There’s no better way to end this list than to share the prayer the Bible ends with: “Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20). Father God, we thank you that your amazing unfathomable love has been poured out for us at the cross and poured into us by the Holy Spirit. We want to taste and experience more of the depth and breadth and length and height of your amazing love. Help us to walk by faith. Help us to endure in suffering. Help us to own our need of you. Help us to fully embrace your Son, Jesus Christ, our Redeemer. So, pour out your love into our hearts, in increasing measure by the power of your Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ our Lord. It is in his name that we pray, Amen. 2 Corinthians 5:1-5 The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. Help me lift my eyes and set my mind on divine things instead of human things. Help me take up my cross and follow You. To lose my life for Your sake and the sake of the gospel. I don’t want to be ashamed of You in this world, but instead be bold to proclaim You goodness. For, in the end, what good will it do me to gain the whole world, yet forfeit my own life? Ask in God’s name for the things that we need such as strength, guidance, and wisdom to overcome whatever circumstance we might be facing. Prayer of Confession and Forgiveness
