Dinosaurtime also brings together an amazing collection of toy models marine creatures, from sharks, whales, dolphins, seafish to the incredible giant squid. Although the word Triceratops means 3 horned face, this dinosaur actually only had 2 proper horns. The third horn was made out of soft proteins and wasn’t a proper horn. In fact, scientists aren’t really sure what the purpose of this false horn is. Another interesting fact about triceratops is that almost one third of the length of the Triceratops was its skull. A typical Triceratops was approximately 26 feet long (or 8 meters), while its skull was approximately 7 feet long (or 2.33 meters long). Dinosaurtime has some of the very best dinosaur toys, prehistoric animal toys, replica dinosaur palaeontological models, plush dinosaurs and other great gift ideas from our dinosaur merchandise section. The PNSO brand has taken the dinosaur collecting world by storm, releasing within a year a respectable range of impressive figures and high end models. PNSO dinosaurs have become known for their realistic sculpts and the recently released Triceratops is no exception. We recently unboxed it on our Youtube channel and here we’ll take an in depth look. The first of the new for 2022 PNSO prehistoric animal models have arrived at Everything Dinosaur. Seven new dinosaur figures Anthony the Styracosaurus (top left), the new Doyle with Triceratops skull model (top centre) and the 1:35 scale Xiaoqin the Tsintaosaurus (top right). The new for 2002 Essien the Spinosaurus in 1:35 scale is in the centre along with Harvey the Iguanodon dinosaur model. At the bottom, there is Jennie the Centrosaurus (left) and the very impressive Lu Xiong the Zhuchengtyrannus (right). Seven New Dinosaur Models The company who produce several lines of dinosaur figures including the Carnegie Collection and the Wild Safari Line Currently, there are two theories which suggest what the horns of the Triceratops were used for. One theory says that this dinosaur’s horns were used to defend itself in combat against other dinosaurs—particularly the T- Rex—which is known to have been the mortal enemy of this animal. The second theory suggests that this animal’s horns served a very limited purpose in combat and was instead used during courtship rituals. The figure is highly detailed, showing fine skin texturing all over the body. The hide is lovingly sculpted with small round scales, interspersed with the larger, raised nipple-shaped scales (which are sometimes interpreted as the bases of quills in other ceratopsian figures). Along the spine is a line of rectangular scutes. The underside looks like that of a crocodile, with symmetrical lines of broad scales. There is no obvious cloaca. Along the outer edges and rear of the frill appears to be a series of growth lines, resulting in an oyster like effect. Rebor dinosaur models, prehistoric animals and figures. Scale models to buy on-line at Everything Dinosaur. A fantastic range of prehistoric animals including a Velociraptor mongoliensis, Dilophosaurus wetherilli and the Tyrannosaurus rex Rebor dinosaur model.

A highly recommended online toy store featuring a wide variety of Papo, Schleich, Safari Ltd., CollectA, and other figures.I LOVE Ceratopsian models, especially those by CollectA. Also the models by PNSO. PNSO never disappoints us. This is indeed a very scaly reptilian Triceratops, especially the underbelly. I would love to see quills on the tail of this model, Like CollectA does on its ceratopsian models.

It is believed that Triceratops ate mostly low growth vegetation such as ferns and shrubbery. Scientists believe that their large volume of teeth suggested that they ate large volumes of fibrous plant material each day and that these large batteries of teeth were needed to replace the ones that were damaged by wear and tear. The Peking Natural Science-Art Organisation have a diverse range of detailed dinosaur toys and statues.
