Unfortunately, I can’t do anything on YT – can’t even comment on or like anyone else’s video or subscribe to them, can’t even see comments at all on videos now; and all the comments I myself made on other people’s videos will have vanished like they were never there.

Described by the Guardian TV critic Digby Smugg as ‘The Archers directed by Derek and Clive’, ‘Buggernation Street’ featured the everyday stories of decadent folk living on a terraced street in the fictional Lancashire town of Weatherfield. Eddie Yeats is back on the Street for the Christmas holidays and immediately attempts to pick up where he left off with Bet before their intended night of passion was rudely interrupted. Stan tips-off Ray that a new nightclub on the eve of opening needs some last-minute plumbing in the hope it’ll make them all square; whilst there, Oggy encounters his perfect woman, who happens to be as thick as pigshit. Jerry is Len's lodger and works with him at the builder's yard, a role also filled by Ray Langton, a Jack-the-lad character who hired Deirdre Hunt to be the firm's secretary, even though he regularly ribs her about her parallel career as a prostitute. Its very old episodes of Coronation Street overdubbed with some of the funniest - and filthiest - dialogue I've ever heard. It had originally been published on Vimeo a couple of years ago and attracted virtually no attention at all; remixed and expanded, I decided to temporarily shelve my ‘Buggernation’-only principles when it came to YT uploads and enabled ‘Wokeday Evening’ to be seen by the widest possible audience.

The Rovers takes on the Flying Horse in a sporting contest: Len doesn’t quite live up to the standards of Graham Miles, but Betty and Ena triumph in darts and dominoes respectively.

Not for the first time in these dark, humourless days, it would seem making people laugh is a criminal offence. Elsie is recovering from her accident in hospital when Alan visits to take advantage of her dazed condition; she agrees to have him back on a trial basis. Something of a minor miracle it’s survived, but the first pilot serves as a handy introduction to the characters and their respective perversions. Any similarities to other television soap operas produced by Granada for the ITV network were purely deliberate.
