Description

Published in 2023 and the second book in the DC Ffion Morgan series, A Game Of Lies by Clare Mackintosh is set in the Welsh mountains where seven reality show contestants are stranded and have no idea what they’ve signed up for. What they thought was a show in the vein of Survivor was, in reality, a show that would expose their deep, dark secrets.

We have an ex boyfriend of Morgan's, her ex husband and some tenous relationships playing out, all the while during the investigation and that is before a murderer strikes. Stranded in the Welsh mountains, seven reality show contestants have no idea what they’ve signed up for. The story begins roughly 18 months on from the first book and we soon learn that Ffion has not really changed! Het leugenspel' is het tweede deel van de serie met Ffion Morgan in de hoofdrol, maar kan ook prima als losstaand deel gelezen worden. I have read all of Clare Mackintosh’s previous novels and enjoyed them all tremendously so had great expectations but alas, they were not lived up to.The second part is the disappearance of someone on the cast of a reality show - the case that sends both detectives scrambling. Tbh, when I was halfway through, I was actually surprised to see that I was only at the fifty mark as I felt that I had been reading for a long time and by now I must have covered at least 70 percent of the story. I am the biggest Clare Mackintosh fan and as such, I’m thrilled to report that A Game of Lies was a total winner for me. I received a free copy of, A Game of Lies, by Clare Mackintosh, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Without giving spoilers, with this one you can't do that because right towards the end she reveals a piece of info that you would have never guessed otherwise. My latest book is A GAME OF LIES, the instant Sunday Times bestseller, and the second in my crime series featuring Welsh detective Ffion Morgan, who we first meet in THE LAST PARTY.Ffion is struggling with her emotions and a new rescue dog named Dave, who is THE BEST; he brings some much-needed humor into the plot. I loved everything about this book - a brilliant, high-concept thriller with plot twists that made me gasp, and wonderful characters that had me laughing out loud and wincing in horror. There's lots of bickering and hurt feelings and misunderstandings and huffing around in a snit (mostly by Ffion). Ffion Morgan is a complex character and often breaks rules, will she push her luck too far and what happens when she has to face the now DS Leo Brady who ends up leading the case. I PROMISE IT WON'T ALWAYS HURT LIKE THIS is a conversation about grief, based on my experiences of navigating bereavement following the loss of my son eighteen years ago.

It's actually the whole reason I started the series – I was approved for this one on NetGalley and immediately requested the first installment from the library so that I wouldn't miss out on any of the backstory. If another player can guess the truth, they won't only be eliminated but they will be exposed live on air.

IF YOU’RE HOOKED ON THE TRAITORS, YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS A GAME OF LIES… THE INSTANT SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING THRILLER AND NO. Ffion is such a formidable and fierce character - I could read a dozen more books with her at the centre. I found this book engrossing however as I am not a fan of reality shows, I found the manipulative and devious behaviour of the show’s producer distasteful. What made this book a standout was the setting--the majority of the novel takes place in the Welsh mountains, and Mackintosh transported me to Wales.
