If you set up this unit in ambush, place an ambush marker anywhere on the battlefield that is wholly within your deployment zone. If you do not have the first turn, you must reveal all of your ambush markers at the end of your opponents Movement phase. x73 plastic components that make one Achilles Ridgerunner armed with two heavy stubbers, and a choice of either a heavy mining laser, a heavy mortar, or a missile launcher. It also comes with a host of other options and optional wargear. The solution was to take a pressmold of a Zone Mortalis tile and make my own base topper. I started with two part silicone putty. This size of mold will use a decent chunk of a box, but the mold should hold up for quite a while! Press the putty into the surface and wait about 90 minutes to demold something this size.

Blue/Grey Cloth: – Base with Dark Reaper. – Wash with Coelia Greenshade. – Highlight with Dark Reaper. – Edge Highlight with Thunderhawk Blue. With the latest set of codices now on the shelves, it’s time to start breaking down what units and options are going to be right for your list! Purple: Naggaroth Night and then Xereus Purple (I love, love Xereus Purple), washed Druchii Violet, and then re-layered Xereus on the higher parts and highlighted with, fittingly, Genestealer Purple. Some weapons have ‘Blast’ listed in their profile’s abilities. These are referred to as Blast weapons. In addition to the normal rules, the following rules apply to Blast weapons:For the flesh of the arms on more mutated hybrids, where the purple fades into blue, wet blend the Genstealer Flesh Mix with Night Lords Blue. Alternatively, glaze Night Lords Blue down the arm, increasing in intensity towards the hands. If a unit set up underground has any abilities that are used in your Command phase (e.g. Meticulous Planner), then the first time that unit is set up on the battlefield, it can use any or all of those abilities as if it were your Command phase. For the ridged sections between any carapace plates, basecoat with Xereus Purple and shade with Druchii Violet

The simulation assumes everything occurs in a single turn so that I didn’t have to deal with the crew recovering in the End phase. Note, your chance to one shot the Redemptor increases by quite a lot if fully buffed when using the HML, while the AML will never do it. For 4th generation hybrids (Neophytes and other more human models) you can substitute the use of Genestealer Flesh Mix with your normal skin colour, and simply glaze the shadows with a bit of Druchii Violet. This vital data is transmitted to the cult gene-sect's headquarters, where it can be absorbed and disseminated by a Nexos strategist. Other Ridgerunners carry flare launchers, usually employed for signalling and coordinating ambushes and outflanking manoeuvres -- though at a pinch they can also level a smokescreen to hide the vehicle's advance. Mentally trace where on the model light rays would fall as they radiate away from the lantern in straight linesAnother layer, adding more Pallid Wych Flesh focussed on the sharpest edges and most raised surfaces. The Light Vehicle chassis is 50 credits. It needs 2″ of movement (+20 credits), an extra Toughness on the front (call it +10 credits), one more HP (+20 credits), 2 better handling (+20 credits), and there’s no way to get the Outrider’s special rules. Even if you ignore those special rules the Outrider gets a 50 credit discount over a roughly equivalent custom ride, not to mention the option to harpoon your enemies at gang creation. Wolfquad Set up the remaining models in that unit wholly within 6" of the first model, wholly within your deployment zone and more than 9" away from any enemy models.

If this unit is set up underground, then in the Reinforcements step of one of your Movement phases, you can set up this unit under one of the following conditions:

Genestealer Cults.

Green Chitin and Cloth: – Wash with Terradon Turquoise. – Layer with Lupercal Green, leaving the deepest recesses. – Highlight with Kabalite Green, focusing on the raised areas of the cloth/carapace. – Edge Highlight with Sybarite Green – Edge Highlight any bladed/horned parts of the carapace with Dawnstone. (Larger areas of Chitin on Metamorphs/Purestrains, Patriarch can be carefully Drybrushed instead for a more naturalistic, less clean look). Start by painting the main body of the Achilles Ridgerunner using Leadbelcher, a metallic paint that gives it a strong framework. The Achilles Ridgerunner is a common sight throughout the Imperium. Although not specifically designed for military use, like so many of the utilitarian machines favoured by the Genestealer Cults, it has proven remarkably effective as an outrider and scout vehicle. Decorative Metal (Icons, Leaders’ Weapons): – Base with Balthasar Gold. – Wash with Agrax Earthshade. – Drybrush with Hashut Copper. – Lightly Drybrush with Sycorax Bronze, focused on the edges. A good source for inspiration for Genecult colour schemes is to look at their tentacle-mawed gods’s own. After all, it’d make sense they wanna emulate the giant space bugs they’re desperately trying to summon right? The 2019 codex features 2 minor cults that do this with the Sons of Jormungandr and the Behemoid Undercult parroting the schemes for Hive Fleets Jormungandr and Behemoth respectively, with and this formed the basis for my own cult’s scheme based off the cold minty chitin of Hive Fleet Tiamet.

While it’s not entirely clear, I assumed that a crew that’s unconscious as a result of a Catastrophic Hit will automatically fail all Loss of Control tests they’re required to make. With the Genestealer Cult codex fresh on the scene, one of my favorite units in the codex has gotten more interesting: The Ridgerunner! It has two juicy options: the Heavy Mining Laser (HML) and the Achilles Missile Launcher (AML). The question that comes to mind once you read their stats is: Going from a 175 credit heavy chassis to a 280 credit Ridgehauler with a container requires a lot. You need multiple Toughness boosts (+35 credits assuming increasing just the front is the equivalent of 10 credits), 2 more HP (+40 credits), an extra hardpoint (+40 credits) and an extra 7 firing arcs (+105 credits), 2″ more movement (+20 credits), +1 to Handling (+10 credits), transport bed (+15 credits), a Weapons Stash (+20 credits, although the upgrade can be exhausted), and pay whatever the equivalent of boosting a Save will be (assuming +25 credits here). That’s roughly a 485 credit total, meaning the Ridgehauler has an absolutely insane 205 credit discount. Not to mention it makes you money while giving you the option to upgrade it further. For the human skin highlight the colours are basically just moving left to right from darkest to lightest of this trio of paints. The darker skin is a couple of thin coats of Knight-Questor, then for the last highlight mixing in a touch of Cadian. The medium skin tone started with Cadian followed by mixing in a bit of Kislev for the final highlight of the medium tone. Then I reused that Cadian/Kislev mix for the initial highlight of the lightest tone that was then finished off with kislev. The hybrid skin is a couple of thin coats of Ushabti over the base coat, you can push it a touch further with screaming skull if you want. For crew members, use Rakarth Flesh for a natural look. Enhance interior details with Mournfang Brown for contrasts.Given the interesting differences in the wargear of the Ridgerunner, lets breakdown how a squad of three will fair against two common target profiles in the game: a Redemptor dreadnought and Blightlord Terminators. This represents typical hard to kill vehicles and elite infantry units, both with the all too common -1 damage. This will help us understand how variability vs. dependability will fare out when it really matters in a game with these weapons. I tried something new out here – this base topper is made with liquid sculpey. This was a bit more pricey than using standard sculpey, but it just needed to be baked at 275 for 15 minutes. Once the chipping is where you want, its crucial that you seal thoroughly with varnish, otherwise washes and later paint layers can reactivate the chipping medium. In my case I am using either Vallejo Mecha Matte or Premium Air Matte, and I am not quite sure how other finishes will affect how the the scheme turns since there are a lot of washes involved. Do note, that while I describe doing this with a airbrush you could probably do it by hand or rattle can, its just that it might take a lot longer. Base Coats – Its almost all washes baby Standard armaments also include Heavy Stubbers for repelling hostile fauna, opportunistic scavengers and xenos threats -- ever-present hazards when exploring Frontier Worlds. Lighten the Genestealer Flesh Mix with Pallid Wych Flesh (2:1) and layer carefully on raised areas.
