The whiskies are drawn from 5 different types of cask, including American white oak casks, Sherry casks and Mizunara oak casks. Inspired by a traditional kimono pattern, the bottle is embellished with the tabane-noshi, a traditional Japanese symbol of celebration that has often adorned precious gifts since ancien. The hibiki is firstly a lot sweeter than it’s contemporaries with hints of chocolate and honey, and is a lot smoother and less harsh on the palate.

In 2015, it was reported that at least 10 malt and grain whiskies were used from three distilleries ( Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita [12]), aged in five different cask types, with some elements aged up to approximately 20 years or longer. The 2021 limited edition bottle design of Hibiki Japanese Harmony pays tribute to the Ryusui-Hyakka (One-Hundred Flowers and Flowing Water). The final blend is an exploration of how ​a single detail can alter the whole alchemy, creating this extraordinary whisky. With its 24-faceted bottle (representing the Japanese seasons), Hibiki Japanese Harmony makes for a really impactful gift.Described as an orchestra of flavours and aromas, Hibiki Whisky is a celebration of distilling and showcases fine craftsmanship in each and every blend.

Even the presence of purple is deliberate, for it’s regarded as Japan's most noble color, and so a purple ribbon encircles the neck of each elegant decanter bottle accordingly. I'm not normally a whisky drinker but I drank this one neat to get the true flavour, it was pleasant and I found it sweet and smooth, a nice warming feeling as it went down, and a nice aroma, it was a pleasant surprising whisky. The Hibiki range from Suntory was released in 1989 to commemorate their 90th anniversary and Harmony is the cornerstone.

Harmony - a rather apt word to describe this well-balanced Japanese blended whisky from the Hibiki range. In the years that have followed, Hibiki has become a highly sought-after and universally known Japanese whisky.
