About this deal

An episode from the ABC era (Man Shall Not Live By Bread Alone) was featured in a boxset titled ABC Nights In, which was also released by Network on 22 December 2020. Tom Wright did a couple of programmes for me on the resurrection and the nature of evil; or when we made a programme on the story of Wycliffe, Cranmer, and Tyndale — it didn’t bother anybody that I was Muslim then, did it? Nigel Holmes, who tabled the motion, compares the hours of religious television broadcast in 1987 with the present day.

Low self esteem is leading many recruiters to be pushovers, instead of the professional consultants they need to be. Hours are slightly up, but I’m obsessed with not the hours but the quality, and the quality this year is very good. Just grabbing the job description, seeing the job title, thinking to themselves, yeah we’ve got plenty of those on our database and then bombarding the client with mainly irrelevant candidates – a bit like my experience with estate agents – infuriating and time wasting, but sadly oh so common an event. He describes this period as “one of happiest times of my working career: they were some great people to work with, and that’s the key to this: it’s not about yourself as an individual; it’s who you’re working with.

It's hard to describe to those who didn't see it, but "Never Mind the Quality" ought still to be viewable today. We all have plenty of choices, but the most resilient leaders are masters at reminding themselves of this fact in the face of adversity. When asked about it directly, his response is brief: “I’ve never traded on it, to tell you the truth, and I don’t really want to. First, Mr Ahmed was appointed to not one but two posts: head of religion and commissioning editor for TV. The pilot and the first two series were produced by ABC; however, the second series (of six episodes) did not air until just after Thames Television launched on 30 July 1968, which initially aired the six episodes from that series over August and September that year. When there is only one candidate, they need to know the scarcity of suitable candidates, and if comparison is needed, to measure the person against the job spec and those previously recruited to a similar role. Letting them know, in some detail, the availability of candidates for this role, at that salary, in this location, and willing to work for their company, are all parts of the job that require a degree of gumption. Although I believe it was created for a TV sitcom, the phrase ‘Never Mind The Quality…Feel The Width’ has long been used as an expression signifying quantity over quality. The other perennial debate is about broadcasting worship: whether it works, how it can be justified, whether broadcasters are committed to it, and so on.

When we were doing Headhunting the Homeless [about an Evangelical social-action project], you don’t have to be religious to think that helping the homeless get back into the workplace is a good idea: you have to be a human being. When they answer, listen for nuggets of truth and avenues for solutions and possibilities you may not have ever considered. Anybody who thinks that ITV is going to show religious programmes at a time when it could go under . I’ve been an outsider all my life; so if people think that they can bully me, they got another think coming. They become the most argumentative of sparring partners, needling each other as well as the cloth, each incapable of understanding the other’s religious beliefs.Manny Cohen, played by John Bluthal, is Jewish, and Patrick Kelly, played by Joe Lynch, is Irish Catholic. Sky Movies wrote, "although one of the better TV spin-offs, this is not so much a feature film as three episodes strung together by a tenuous overall storyline. Culture-clash comedy featuring an English Jew and an Irish Catholic tailor working in London's East End. Remake of the 1961 Disney comedy about separated identical twins who meet at camp, change places and hatch a plot to reunite their divorced parents. Impotent recruiters are not only dropping their rates like a street hooker on a Monday night, but are also agreeing to whatever “Terms” the client chooses to dictate to them.
