About this deal

Switching to a Pi-based system means I can use mainline Ubuntu instead of clownshoes Armbian - and that's worth its weight in gold. It’s still a computer… it has network, storage and memory… but as stated it is a Raspbery Pi and it does have limited computes. I think Argon should have done more in terms of providing a "roadmap" in terms of links to documentation and tutorials to help new users get the software set up. Tom's Hardware is part of Future US Inc, an international media group and leading digital publisher.

To give you a reference a naked Raspberry Pi 4 board runs at about 52℃ idle and goes all the way to 82℃ where it throttles the speed of the CPU. Unaware of that (as my Argon Eon was constantly connected to the network) I run into some troubles caused by my NAS’ time being constantly reset to 2020!It seems to run quieter… but that may just be wishful thinking… Running a non-standard fan that already has bearings fail.

are attached to the back of the chassis via screws – installation is relatively simple, but if you are going to use big drives, remember you can use only 2 of them and both must be fitted to the ports on the inside.GPIO users, yes you can use this case for projects but the sheer size and rather awkward access to the GPIO makes this far from ideal. We moved on to testing the thermal properties of the Argon EON and, as we have a tall, open case with heatsinks and a 12V case fan, we felt assured that cooling would be good.
