I live out of a bag a lot of the month and being able to toss it in my backpack back and forth between places without worrying about breakage feels good.
It has double-shot ABS keycaps that feel nice to type on, and the linear GLORIOUS Fox switches feel light to actuate and don't make much noise, which is great for open office environments.
The GMMK 2 comes with a novelty escape key which proudly displays their updated logo, and I think most people are going to be happy with this change. The stabilizers are plate-mounted, but the GMMK 2 also supports screw-in stabilizers should you want to use those with this board. It isn't wireless, so you'll have to connect it directly to your HTPC, which means more cable management across the room.
The color mixing is improved over the previous versions of this keyboard, so the whites are very clear. The RGB diffuser strips on the sides only help with that feeling: they make the keyboard look a bit more premium and of course add to the RGB show. This is where the GMMK 2 sets itself apart from competitors, as fully modular gaming keyboards are still a rarity from big manufacturers; Corsair only just released its first, the K70 Pro Mini Wireless. Ultra customization among the best gaming keyboards has previously been relegated to the super expensive or niche keyboards.Each key is macro-programmable using the companion software; however, the companion software is only available on Windows. This lets you meld your work life and your love for gaming, and gives the GMMK 2 a leg up against mainstream competitors.
Similar to the Apex Pro or Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro, you are able to customize the RGB backlighting of the GMMK 2 on an individual per-key basis. That last one has the key clusters closer together and sacrifices some keys for the smaller form factor but it still has the numpad and functionality you’d expect from a full-sized board, which I like. However, it doesn't come with a wrist rest, which would help improve the overall comfort for long periods.
If I did have to have a coil in my cable, I would prefer the coiled to be smaller and not have a right angle where the aviator is away from the keyboard.

It’s good to go in its factory configuration, but if you want to use your own switches or keycaps you can also get the barebones version: it’s certainly a very capable platform to build upon if you want an entry level mechanical keyboard.
