About this deal

Additionally make sure your User-Agent is not empty and is something unique and descriptive and try again. Blur's self-titled fifth album (1997) saw another stylistic shift, influenced by the lo-fi styles of American indie rock groups, and became their third UK chart-topping album. Anyway on listening to The Magic Whip today, it opens with the Blur sound we’re familiar with from the early to mid 90s.

Songs on The Magic Whip mention internet hotspots, satellite showers, industrial light and glass arcades.Like Albarn's recent solo work, it explores the distant traveler's conflicting sense of wonder and alienation. It’s fantastic, but compared to the two new songs they’ve released in 2023, it feels incredibly transitional. The group have largely been on hiatus since the Magic Whip tour, but have announced plans to reunite in 2023 for various live dates. Their next album, 13 (1999) saw the band experimenting with electronic and gospel music, and featured more personal lyrics from Albarn.

It wasn't until Graham Coxon reprised these sessions and presented them to long-time producer Stephen Street, who went on to develop them with the guitarist, that they realised they might have material worthy of a new album. However, the entire festival was cancelled for unknown reasons, leaving the band stranded in Hong Kong for an extra 5 days. Their eighth album, The Magic Whip (2015), was the sixth consecutive Blur studio album to top the British chart.Coxon left the band during early recording sessions for Think Tank, and Blur disbanded for several years after the end of the album's associated tour, with the members engaged in other projects. The album will connect to everyone in a different way, but it sounded like Broken Bell's outer space sound, combined with Damon's Britpop flavor, and a lot more electronic sounds you've heard with other Blur works. On the way back from his tour of Australia in December, Albarn stopped in Hong Kong once more for lyrical inspiration.

In November 2014, Coxon received Albarn’s approval to work further on the recordings with producer Stephen Street, while Albarn was touring his solo album, Everyday Robots. With a few exceptions - the playful Ong Ong, the 1994 time warp Lonesome Street - the album is a moody affair, capturing the bristling tension of later Blur albums. Please note, The Vinyl Whistle accepts no responsibility for any package which is damaged, lost or stolen during transit. In the following months, Albarn had stated in interviews that he was unsure whether the resulting music would ever be released. Records that aren't in picture sleeves will either be in a company sleeve or a generic plain sleeve.Alternative rock groups wish their 'creative' side, which usually leaves the listener a little weirded out, sounded as good as Blur just being, well.
