Object of the game: The object of the game of Careers is to "succeed" but just as in real life, each player has his own idea of what success really means. This version brought back Ecology as an occupation, as well as Big Business, Politics, Entertainment, Teaching, Sports, and Computer Science. It means that you have no idea if you should be rushing to do something as the others are hot on your tail, or if actually you’re miles out in front.

Victory conditions (a secret "Success Formula") consist of a minimum amount of fame, happiness and money that the player must gain.

Leading off the main track are eight “career” paths which players can choose to follow if they land on the relevant start square, or may be forced to follow if they have received an instruction to do so from a card or other square on the board. The ratings/reviews displayed here may not be representative of every listing on this page, or of every review for these listings. The “Given Larger Office 4 ♥” was replaced with “Transferred to Hawaii 4 ♥” which you would think was surely worth more than four hearts. g., a player's Success Formula specifies 20 fame victory points but they accumulate more than 20 during play). It is not surprising which two career paths, besides “College,” survived over the decades: “Big Business” and “Politics. Some of these cards are special or golden opportunities and enable the player to begin the occupation path without the usual prerequisites (usually a payment, a particular degree or having completed another occupation path).Pressman Toys brought out a version of Careers in 1997 that was a mashup of several previous releases, with career choices of Big Business, Ecology, Entertainment, Expedition to Mars, Politics, Computer Programming, and Sailing. Parker Brothers' Careers board game first appeared in 1955, designed by the then-famous sociologist, linguist, and author James Cooke Brown. As you go around the board players have the opportunity to pick up both opportunity and experience cards.
