About this deal

This, along with the figure’s bulk, make him quite good to combine with the various Weaponizers and Fossilizers. ER versions simply carry too much baggage from their Siege selves that I just can look at them as anything but half-baked attempts at retools.

It just feels a bit odd to have the design goes for realistic approach everywhere on the body, except the eyes. Although it’s the Studio Series 86 line that's leading the charge in that respect, there are still plenty of incredible releases coming out of War for Cybertron too – such as the War for Cybertron: Kingdom leader class Ultra Magnus figure. Unfold out panels on the legs to make them into the sides of the trailer, and now you have to put everything together.

The front most part of the red plastic can still grip onto the truck cab around the smokestacks, EXACTLY like the Siege version.

Transformers beasts, the Maximals and Predacons, have traveled across time to find the Allspark and change the fate of Cybertron. Unfortunately, the Kingdom version is based heavily upon the Siege one rather than being an entirely new model.

This is only the third official Ultra Magnus figure to have this feature, after the Masterpiece and original G1 toy. To transform them into the trailer, you need to snap together the shoulder pieces and slide them into the rear of the truck. On the back you'll find images of Ultra Magnus in his various modes, along with images that tell you just how many steps there are between them. Transforming the inner robot into the cab is a straightforward enough process as you'd expect (the transformation layout hasn't really changed that much since the original toy after all), but there are some pretty interesting steps thrown in – such as the way that bumper section pulls moves down the back before flipping around to the front. The truck mode's still got its issues, but the trailer is decent enough to make up for some of its shortcomings.

You push out the main body to expose a slider, and then you slide the cab up from the bottom of the waist to the slider, where it tabs in.

Where there is paint it's all applied exquisitely however, and it all really stands out on that bright white body. Includes Transformers Generations War for Cybertron: Kingdom Leader Class figure, accessories, Golden Disk card, and instructions.

This figure has been partially remolded and deco'd to best reflect his G1 look, and with no battle damage! The toy does however feature ten free-rolling wheels, which allows it to glide across surfaces and comfortably lead an Autobot convoy. It's probably right for the character, but does underscore that Magnus is an also-ran as Autobot leadership contenders go. That’s why I prefer the Siege versions of Magnus, Ironhide/Ratchet, Megatron, Soundwave and the Datsuns, they aren’t trying to pass themselves off as earth vehicles, so things like greebles and battle damage don’t bother me.This G1-inspired toy converts into Earth armored truck mode in 12 steps and comes with a blaster accessory. As the power of the beasts is unleashed, Optimus Prime and Megatron fight their greatest battle as the two leaders come face to face with the consequences of their war. Ultra Magnus' sole accessory (other than those twin missile launchers you attach to the shoulders anyway), is his "RT-15 Stethoscopic Detector" blaster rifle, which remains unchanged from the Siege release. I haven’t been particularly impressed with any versions of the character since, either because they have looked rather poor by comparison or they didn’t incorporate the robot formed from the truck cab. The final, fully armoured robot mode looks really good, much better than the Siege version, but that's about it for me.
