About this deal

German epic death metal band Grailknights released the album Return to Castle Grailskull, picturing them on the album cover in front of "Castle Grailskull" (resembling the sculpt used in the 2002 MOTU toyline). In the first video clip from that album, "Moonlit Masquerade", they perform on a CGI-generated Castle Grayskull. The band's live shows include characters who resemble Skeletor and other MOTU figures.

Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands) may take longer to reach you. During the Great Wars and until the reign of King Grayskull, Castle Grayskull was also a center of religion, particularly the worship of Eternia's Goddess.

Manual

Castle Grayskull is a fortress located on the fictional planet Eternia. It forms a central location in the Masters of the Universe toy/comic/animation universe and also appears in the 1987 live action adaptation. The concept is credited to Donald F. Glut. [1] The toy set was invented by Roger Sweet. [2] Castle Grayskull was a "major feature of Mattel's line", [3] and was "one of the most famous playsets of all time". [4] When the Great Eye opens, Skeletor absorbs an enormous amount of power from the universe and is transformed into an armored warrior god, proclaiming himself "Master of the Universe". He continues to try to force He-Man to swear allegiance to him, but is interrupted by the arrival of He-Man's friends, Kevin and Lubic, who arrive through a portal that they managed to open. He-Man is freed, and along with his friends engages Skeletor's forces in combat. Lubic, despite not understanding what is going on, defeats several of Skeletor's minions with his shotgun. Evil-Lyn, Karg, and Beast Man decide to desert Skeletor and escape. He-Man breaks Skeletor's staff, causing him to lose his newfound powers. Skeletor continues to engage He-Man with his sword, but as a result, is vanquished by falling into a deep pit.

In 1989, Mattel revamped the franchise with the He-Man toy line, which reintroduced both He-Man and Skeletor in a science fiction setting. The new direction was not as successful as its predecessor, and the line drew to a close in 1992. At WrestleMania XXVIII, professional wrestler Triple H made his way to the ring through a structure resembling Castle Grayskull. In the storyline of the latest Mattel toyline, Teela is the clone of the Sorceress Teela Na. She eventually takes over from her as the new Sorceress, and will one day become the wife of King He-Man and mother to their son Dare. The concept of the "eye of the universe" inside the castle throne room is not present in the animated series. Jason Bainbridge (2011). "Building Cities, Building Worlds: Cities in Play" (PDF). Interdisciplinary Themes Journal. 3 (1) . Retrieved 29 August 2020. In this film, the Eternians are unfamiliar with Earth. This contrasts with the Filmation origin of Queen Marlena, in which she was an Earth astronaut and this fact was well known among most everyone.

In the 2002 remake of He-Man, it is revealed that Castle Grayskull was once home to King Grayskull, an ancestor of Prince Adam, who died defending his kingdom and Eternia as a whole from Hordak. Upon his death, King Grayskull transferred his power into his sword that now forms the basis of He-Man's power. His wife Veena became the first Sorceress, and his advisers became the Council of Elders. He also had an enormous green lion as a mount, bearing the same armor as Battle Cat, and is presumably where Battle Cat gains his powers. On the Planet Eternia, at the center of the universe, the forces of Skeletor have managed to seize control over Castle Grayskull and capture the Sorceress of Grayskull. Skeletor is planning to exploit Grayskull's hidden powers when the "Great Eye of the Galaxy", a portal in the castle's throne room, opens and Eternia's moon is correctly aligned with it.

Specifications

Castle Grayskull was made as a playset for both the 1980s and 2002 Masters of the Universe toy lines. The 1980s incarnation was one of the more popular Christmas presents for pre-adolescent boys in the 1980s. [ citation needed] The castle was user-friendly, possessing many settings and functions suitable for the 5" action figures it was built to complement. Near the throne, Skeletor has trapped the Sorceress within an energy field, which, little by little, transfers her power to him. The castle serves as Skeletor's main base of operations throughout the movie. According to the film, it houses a giant circular portal called "the Great Eye of the Galaxy", which only opens when Eternia's moon reaches its zenith, granting whoever stands before it god-like power. It is never explicitly stated, though visuals strongly indicate, that for this to happen the Sword of Grayskull must be inserted into a small column near the portal.

Although it is mostly viewed from the outside, there are a few notable internal locations: the Main Chamber (incl. the Walkway of the Elders); Throne Room; the Hall of He-Man; the Portal Chamber; a laboratory; Mirror Room; the Sorceress's den and bed chamber (right tower), and "The Gallery Of Living Pictures;" this last was employed in the VHS home video "The Greatest Adventures Of All!" to show what the Sorceress called the greatest adventures of the Masters Of The Universe, especially He-Man himself. In the episode Double Trouble, an evil doppleganger of He-Man's friend Kol Darr also comes across the chamber that houses the Secrets of Castle Grayskull. It is a room with two doors, between which sits the Guardian, one of which houses the secrets, the other only destruction. In this comic, the term sorceress is more equal to the priestess. There were at least 3 sorceresses serving three different gods Teela Na served as an oracle of the goddess Zoar. Teela Na was the wife of Man in Arms and the mother of Teela although Teela wasn't aware of it until Teela Na's death. At some point, Skeletor took over Castle Grayskull and captured her. To save Prince Adam who lost his memory she creates an illusion of a falcon to which Adam calls Zoar. However, Skeletor killed her before Adam was able to return to the castle. She appeared again during the “ What Lies Within “ arc. During the final fight with Snake people in the circle of eternity, Teela has fallen into eternity where she met with Teela Na once more. She claimed her daughter as a new sorceress and transformed her into a snake woman. She became an oracle of the snake people god Sepos. The New Adventures of He-Man Volume 1": Fighting Mutant Slime in a Future Time". Toon Zone . Retrieved 2009-10-15. In the 1987 live action movie, Castle Grayskull is finally captured by Skeletor's forces. The first image we have of its interior is as Skeletor, victorious at last, makes the long march across the castle's Throne Room. Castle Grayskull appears at the beginning of the transformation sequences of the He-Man spin-off series She-Ra; near the end the Crystal Castle appears in its place.

The Sorceress is also the mother of Teela, a childhood friend of Prince Adam and Captain of the Royal Guard, whose aggressive temperament is a far cry from that of her soft-spoken mother. When Teela was an infant, the Sorceress gave her to Duncan (Man-At-Arms), to raise as his own, because the Sorceress felt that Castle Grayskull was too dangerous a place for her daughter to be raised. In the episode "Teela's Quest", Teela sets out to discover the truth of her mother from The Oracle of the Crystal Sea. She succeeds, but the Sorceress erases the revelation from Teela's memory for her own good, even though she desperately wishes she could tell her the truth. Other than Man-At-Arms, the only others who share the secret are He-Man, Battle Cat, and the Oracle of the Crystal Sea. It is also established in this episode that the Sorceress' daughter is destined to someday take her place as the magical guardian of Castle Grayskull.
