The keycap itself is a PBT double shot keycap – Opaque. The lighting doesn’t shine through, which is a shame. But I think the durability of these keycaps will also prevent ”shining” anytime soon. I feel PBT double shot keyboards are becoming the new standard for pre-built keyboards, which I guess is good for us consumers as we get more life out of the keyboard itself. You must return an item in the same condition as it was received. You must also include, in the same condition as it was received: There is a slight degree of flex when bending it along its long axis, but that is normal. The plastic exterior keyboards all experience this degree of flex. The Hidden Badge Area Any item returned incomplete or with physical damage such as scratches etc., excessive signs of use or abuse will not be accepted for return.
Coiled cable is a nice addition, although i wish it was more of a braided type feel, but not a big deal as i don't really care what kind of cable came with it, as long as it works, but it does add to the aesthetic. I think this keyboard, with its plastic exterior, doesn’t feel cheap. You can see the edges that have been finished adequately and the excellent polish applied to the brass accent piece. In addition, the addition gaskets for sound dampening have also been a fantastic addition. The weight of the keyboard makes the keyboard feel sturdy and stable and is reflected similarly when playing games or doing work on this keyboard. I’ve used the keyboard for about a month and had no issues with the quality, and it’s durable even after dropping it accidentally once. I do have some buyers remorse already and keep wondering if that is the right board for me. I was looking into good quality pre-built, hot-swappable keyboards with a 1800 layout (preferably wireless) that'll keep me satiated for a while before I experimenting with lube/switches/tape etc. Any item returned must be complete with all accessories, hardware, manuals or instructions, and in the same "new" condition as when it was when shipped to you. Please send us the photos or videos of it. The usb c port is incredibly tight and takes time to accept cords easily. Thought mine was broken until I gave the cord some force to get it to seat fully.RGB is nice and subtle. Not much to choose from as far as patterns, but not really a big deal for me. Addition of the log LED is nice, not sure the use of it, but neat i suppose. Bluetooth. or 2.4GHz wireless with a dongle is probably the best case scenario. I like wireless keyboards, but I understand the design constraints of adding in a battery and the PCB requirement to allow for switching. This might increase the price, of course. Conclusion Beyond the slightly odd (and high for Keychron!) pricing, there's little to complain about with the Q5. Yes, it's certainly not a good size or weight to be toted onto a train or into a café, but it feels good to use, looks great and key bindings and lighting can be programmed via an app or via QMK/VIA firmware updates. And if you need a keyboard to reënact that scene from Wanted, this is the one I'd choose. 3. Yunzii Keynovo IF98 Hot-Swappable Gasket Mounted Mechanical Keyboard Since the keyboard has a frosted case, you can see through it, just a tad, offering that nostalgic view of the internal working parts of the tech. I think they went a little too opaque with the frost accent, though, because it hampers the RGBs, making them look dull. Either the case needed to be more transparent, or the lights underneath needed to be brighter. At the very least, the faint lighting is even, and it looks pretty enough when the RGBs are disabled. Though it's made from plastic, the keyboard has some heft to it, with minimal flexing on the outer edges. The steel plate does not have the proper tolerance for switches and the switches are incredibly hard to remove and the paint on it scratches easily
Underneath the case is yet another secret trapdoor, which holds a 2.4gHz dongle, used for connecting the keyboard wirelessly. You can also opt for Bluetooth 5.1, or go the traditional wired route, with that sweet coiled USB-C cable from before. DM us if the link is broken. What I would like to see on this keyboardThe switch fitted with our demo keyboard was the blue Gateron switch. If you want more details on Gateron switches in general, Keychron has this amazing gateron switch guidewhich you should read. It might’ve been a cardinal sin to request blue switches with this keyboard, but we wanted to review this keyboard for gaming. Brown or red switches would’ve done this keyboard justice during the sound test. We wanted to test it for the feel during gaming, and man, it’s a great keyboard. The bottom is very empty and needs foam or silicone. The empty battery compartment cover needs to be removed. You get the neat feature of customising any key to perform specific macros or multimedia functions.
The possibilities are exciting, but it does take a period of sitting down and really wrapping your head around things before it starts to become useful. My favourite factoid is that you can use these keys to walk faster than the default walking speed in CS:GO, without making the footsteps of the default running pace. This is kind of game-breaking, letting you scarper away silently faster than you should, and I'm expecting to see these sorts of keyboards used by pro players any day now. Fairly standard inclusions; it’s nice to have extra keycaps; they’re predominantly used for ”badge area”. First Impression of the YUNZII Keynovo IF98 Glorious sent me a selection of switches, keycaps and cables, and I ended up with some pleasant teal and blue keycaps, a curly pink two-part cable and with soft, linear Kailh Box Red switches that work well for typing and gaming. The finished article tends to attract attention from house guests (I assume everyone takes keyboard questions when their significant other is having a party?) and it's so pleasant and unannoying to use that it's remained on my desk far longer than is strictly necessary for a review - always a good sign that I'm getting on well for a keyboard. The other keyboards on this list are fairly specialised and I wouldn't recommend them to absolutely everyone - especially given some come at a pretty steep price - but the GMMK 2 makes for an awesome introduction to mechanical keyboards at a very fair price. 5.
