About this deal

Besides the characteristic of the ink, the absorbency and the texture of the surface is important – it will determine the permanence and the brilliance of the colour. MOLOTOW™ offers two odorless, water-based markers (AQUA TWIN and AQUA INK Pump-Softliner), perfectly suitable for children’s use. A key principle of MOLOTOW™ is the practical function of its products. The same is true, when it comes to environmental and social issues. Instead of provisional, empty phrases, MOLOTOW™ is active in innovating sustainable ideas and concepts. It is advisable to store water based paints in dry environments of between 5-30°C, protecting them from sharp drops or spikes in temperature change. All products have a minimum temperature for use, water based paints are usually around 8-10°C as a minimum, with a maximum air humidity of 80% R.H. They also have maximum temperatures which can be just as damaging if ignored, this can be as high as 55°C with some products. In all instances, the substrate temperature must be at least 5°C above dew point. Outside of these parameters water based paints can be severely affected, not just for application but also long term performance and drying. In certain instances, it can render the product completely defunct.

VOCs are emitted from many sources such as road vehicles and aircraft, cleaning agents, cosmetics, aerosols, paint and industrial operations. They can accelerate the rate nitrogen oxides (from combustion processes) react with sunlight to create low level ozone and photochemical smogs. If you are an artist using acrylic paints, you should understand that water is unlikely to be your best choice. If you read this, you’re probably aware that latex paint will be used to paint your walls and ceilings. The best way to thin latex paint is to use water to make it easier to work with. Now obviously this isn’t always the case, there are and always will be instances where a solvent based product will be better suited and it doesn’t mean that water based is always best, BUT these regulations although frustrating for many, levelled the playing field for water based technology and allowed the products to be considered instead of overlooked and it turned out, they were actually pretty good! The URBAN FINE-ART™ spray paint should be dry before painting over it with the ONE4ALL acrylic markers, as it is 100% acrylate. Many see water based formulas as the future of spray paint. So it’s likely only a matter of time once manufacturers are able to negotiate cheaper production costs and pass them down to the consumer. Top tips for using water based spray paint Paint can be sprayed with a paint sprayer if it is water-based. How can I thin water based paint? Water is thinned into the paint before it is painted. When both of these ingredients have been combined, apply the paint to your paint sprayer and allow it to dry. This year Pintyplus has launched Pintyplus Evolution Water Based, an acrylic paint in bright RAL colors with excellent performance. There are also a primer and varnish available in the same range allowing you to achieve long-lasting results, with resistance to scratching and inclement weather. Technical characteristics of Pintyplus Evolution Water Base paint Format

Pintyplus are constantly adding new and innovative paints to their range. Aware of an increasing consumer preference for more environmentally friendly water-based paints, the R&D department in Barcelona has been working for a while to try and produce a water-based acrylic spray paint with the technical, quality and performance of a solvent paint. Pintyplus were already the first brand in Spain to formulate a water-based spray more than 10 years ago with the launch of the aQua range, but now they’ve done it again with Evolution. This opened the door for water based products as users went on the search for new products to replace their existing ones. What they found after some due diligence was that because of these new regulations water based products in most instances easily fell within regulation without having to compromise on their manufacture/formulation meaning they outperformed with ease their solvent based counterparts. Pintyplus aQua 2017 was formulated especially designed for small format projects, very common in the world of scrapbooking, Mix Media, and others. Its bright and colorful colours also squarely fit the type of audience it is aimed at. Even so, its excellent performance makes it a versatile product. It achieves good coverage first time, it doesn’t run, it can be repainted instantly and its drying time is optimal. It comes with a low-pressure nozzle to achieve precision painting small objects. Pintyplus Aqua technical characteristics FormatWater based spray paint is simply a spray paint formulated with a water based solution rather than a traditional solvent or oil based solution. The new UK legislation is based on EU directive 2004/42/EC which all European Union member states must introduce. It covers coatings applied to buildings, their trim and fittings, and associated MTN Water-Based Spray Paints are available in a broad range of matt colours, made using only the highest quality, lightfast pigments.

Different pressure adjustments influence the performance of a spray can. A low pressure can ejects the paint with less pressure through the cap. This adjustment gives a smooth control for fine lines and details to the sprayer when using a skinny cap.Volatile Organic Compounds or VOCs are specific materials which evaporate readily and are found in the atmosphere from vehicle exhausts, cleaning agents, furniture polish and fabric softeners. Examples in paints are white spirit, ethanol, xylene and butyl acetate where they play an important part in controlling viscosity, flow and drying. In the Regulations VOCs are ‘solvents’ that have a boiling point below 250°C at standard atmospheric pressure. Our regular readers will know that there are water based floor paints available for areas which are more difficult to ventilate, and where there may be regular food preparation – such as canteen floors. Non-absorbent surfaces are better for the brilliance and the permanence of the colour than absorbent surfaces, whereas too smooth and oily surfaces are inappropriate for adhesion. For areas of high coverage, Rust-Oleum’s Biosan Aqua Matt is available in a wonderful range of neutral and pastel colours, as found in most doctor’s surgeries and chemists. This wall-coating can be used on primed woodwork, masonry, plaster and interior concrete. In 2007, new VOC Regulations were introduced in the UK, the new VOC limits were applied in two phases to allow product development and a managed transition to the new requirements.

Zinsser’s AllCoat range has water-based paints in virtually any colour for nearly any surfaces! Buy them here structures when applied for decorative, functional and protective purposes. It includes imported products but specifically excludes aerosols and products applied under licence to historic buildings. Although paints and coatings contribute a very small percentage of the total amount of VOCs emitted in the UK. Coatings manufacturers have, in the past, implemented voluntary polices to reduce VOC usage. These waterborne products are extremely easy to use, come with full datasheets and technical support from Rawlins Paints. Water based paints can cover a variety of technologies and products but in its simplest form it means the product has been manufactured with water as its ‘solvent’. Water based paints can nearly always be thinned and cleaned up (if required/specified) with clean, cold water. Therein lies a small advantage in itself as you will never be caught short of thinner/cleaner and best of all its effectively free! Just like solvent based paints, water based products can include epoxies, polyurethane, acrylics, and more. As a general rule they will be safer to use and lower odour than solvent based products.
