About this deal

Each of the three SumUp card readers offer up varying levels of practicality. To assess compatibility we have looked at connectivity requirements, battery life and compatibility. For iPhones this means anything newer than the iPhone 5s without an iOS update or anything newer than the iPhone 4s with an iOS update. For iPad’s you can use anything newer than the iPad Air or iPad Mini 2 without an iOS update or anything newer than the iPad (3rd generation) / iPad Mini with an iOs update.

On top of it, the LEDs show you the battery level of the reader. If you press the power button briefly, the LEDs blink: all 4 LEDs indicate a battery level of 100%, if only 3 lights are on, it's at 75% and so on. If only one LED is blinking, please charge the card reader. General handling

How does it work?

Chip: Card will be inserted in the slot at the top of the card reader. The front with the chip of the card is facing you Despite its need for Wifi, Bluetooth and a smartphone, the Air reader has the best battery life out of the three models available. A single, full charge provides you with the capability to complete up to 500 transactions. Whereas the other two models are slightly more power hungry with the Solo achieving 100 and the 3G only achieving 50, but the built in printer may have something to answer for with that!

And unlike more traditional PDQ machines, there’s no need to sign up with a separate merchant account provider or pay any additional credit card processing fees above their standard fee of 1.69%. There are a number of costs to be aware of when purchasing any card reader, which is why we have outlined all the essential pricing of SumUp in a table below. Cost The smallest and cheapest model, the SumUp Air, requires both smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and WiFi to function effectively. Whereas the Solo and 3G readers are both equipped with SIM cards so it can function independently without the need for WiFi or a separate smartphone. Business seminars – like real estate seminars, investment programs, business opportunities/strategies, self-help books, etc.If you're processing an NFC transaction, the first LED shines permanently. Once the card is tapped by the cardholder, all 4 LEDs blink.

Therefore, if half your card transactions are debit rather than credit cards you could be paying way over the odds. We can ensure a functionality of the device with a temperature between -10°C and +45°C. Therefore we recommend not to leave your card reader over long time, e.g. in your car, in midsummer or winter. So if you’re interested in purchasing a card reader for your small business and not sure which one to go for, then we suggest reading our SumUp review.
