Lens like 70-400 or any other telephone lens performance. i am looking for camera for family and vacation use as well as bird photography. I would be happy if i can achieve both with a mirror less since i can invest in good lens for mirrorless which will be usefull in the future. Now I want tu upgrade to a full-format Camera. I read that the A7 S has an (activatable) electronic shutter which makes it possible to take photos without any noise. What's about the A7 II? I could not find any information if this 'noiseless mode' is also available on this model.

I don't need better iso performance, 6400 is as high as I ever go. I have been shooting my Df for a couple years now at weddings, which only has one card slot. My other camera bodies that have dual slots, I don’t even write to both at the same time, I cascade them.Sony claims AF in the a7 II is 30% better than the original a7. It's difficult to quantify something like AF performance, considering the infinite number of shooting scenarios, but after some heavy field time, it certainly does seem like the a7 II acquires focus faster, and more consistently then the original a7.

BTW, please do not misconstrue my original message. I did not say that one NEEDS medium format. I take portraits with my 1Ds3 and 5D3 and appreciate the difference over the older 12MP bodies. For myself, I’m not ready to ditch my DSLRs just yet, but I can now see it happening in the near future with the leaps and bounds Sony has made in the past couple years. Prior to the A7II, I didn’t see it this way. i had Sony A7s/Atomos Shogun combo, it performs good, i am extreamly satisfied with it but i need longer runtime. i found a very good portble V oumt battery for this, it powers my camera very well over 11 hours,if you are relatively conservative about turning the camera/Shogun power off between setups,. The battery also comes with a wall plug for self-charging so no extra charger is needed. I've only been using this battery for about a month now, but I am extremely happy with it thus far. For me, autofocus is important for certain parts of the wedding day, very important, but I have been using manual focus for years during other parts of the day as well as for all of my studio and personal work. I use mainly MF lenses (primes - that's why I swap lenses often). Also because AF selection is so slow.One surprise when you use the Alpha 7 II for the first time is how loud the shutter is. You could be forgiven for thinking that it’s an SLR with a mirror slapping out of the way before the shutter opens. Any full frame sensor will print A2 easily unless you are a real pixel peeper. I have great A2, even A1 images from my 6Mp Fuji S2 Pro. Yes more Mp gives more detail but 12Mp is quite enough - unless you want to heavily crop. Also the A7s better in low light (a big plus) with smaller files and less demanding of lenses. Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity make wireless file transfers and one-touch pairing easy. The PlayMemories Mobile app lets you touch your camera to an Android smartphone or tablet, and create an instant connection through NFC for sharing, remote control, and basic editing. I'm a little torn between this and shelling out another 50% on the A7S II. I understand that the S has a few notable upgrades, if anyone cares to share input.
