I've been waiting for this since the Last Olympian. I was really over the moon seeing Jason & the gang again, his serious sarcasm & nerdy & cluelessness. I wanted a new story with him in it for a long time (& Camp Jupiter Classified let me down on that) & I found it here. Yeah, her dad is a Greek god. So is mine. We’re demigods. If you think that sounds cool, think again. Demigods are monster magnets. All those ancient Greek nasties like Furies and harpies and gorgons still exist, and they can sense heroes like us from miles away. Because of that, Thalia and I spend all our time running for our lives. Our superpowerful parents don’t even talk to us, much less help us. Why? If I tried to explain that, I’d fill up this whole diary, so I’m going to move on.

I got this for my birthday, which was awesome. I sat down on the couch and didn't talk to anybody for several hours. She nodded reluctantly. “In Los Angeles, the night I ran away. Amaltheia led me out of the city. And later, that night you and I met…she led me to you.” The Diary of Luke Castellan was so enjoyable. I loved seeing the dynamic between Luke and Thalia. She hardly ever talks about Luke so seeing their relationship was special.

Leo Valdez and the Quest for Buford: Set between the events of The Lost Hero and The Son of Neptune and narrated by Leo Valdez, the story follows Leo, aided by his friends Jason Grace and Piper McLean, as he faces off in a vicious conflict with the maenads, the maniac followers of Dionysus. The rest three, I cannot rank as to each to their own they were really amazing. It was interesting to see a glimpse of Luke's life before..well everything turned wrong. It certainly helps in understanding Annabeth's and Thalia's faith towards him and the bond they shared. Leo was as usual amazing. And his adventure with bufford and the meanads equal parts interesting and amusing. Very enjoyable that one. And lastly the son of magic. I felt really emotional reading author's note on how his son who fought ADHD/ dyslexia in real life was a source of inspiration for the PJO books. So it only makes sense for his son to write a piece for this amazing world he inspired. It wouldn't be surprising if he surpasses his father someday. I loved Son of Magic even though it's tone is different, much darker than what we are used to in this world. It was a really interesting addition.

At the beginning, Luke, writing in his diary, chronicles his journey with Thalia from when they found Amaltheia to when they met Annabeth. Luke starts recounting his journey beginning with Amaltheia. He writes that he had run away from his house after his dad, Hermes, and left his mom. He had been traveling with fellow demigod Thalia Grace after they met in the outskirts of Los Angeles in front of a dragon's cave. Luke and Thalia make their way to Richmond, Virginia, in front of a statue of Robert E. Lee, following Amaltheia. Thalia explains that Amaltheia had raised Zeus when he was a baby. Luke questions Amaltheia's motives, but Thalia tells him that the magic goat leads her to good things, adding that Amaltheia led her to Luke, an oblivious comment on her part that makes Luke embarrassed. The goat then indicates for them to enter an old mansion across the street and the demigods head toward it as Amaltheia vanishes. What dangers do runaway demigods Luke and Thalia face on their way to Camp Half-Blood? Are Percy and Annabeth up to the task of rescuing stolen goods from a fire-breathing giant who doesn't take kindly to intruders?
