About this deal

During the fire festival Imbolc, Brigid, the Celtic goddess of motherhood and fertility, is honored by celebrants. Traditionally, a sun wheel, or Brigid’s Cross , is made by all who wish to honor the goddess and then burned to celebrate the continuity of life. The Wheel of the Year details the different pagan Sabbats that are linked with the years changing seasons. These are holidays and celebrations that focus on what each season gifts to us and it is predominantly centred around food and sustenance. Bonfires are a widely practiced tradition. Jumping over the fire is a way to bring blessings while sending animals through the smoke is believed to protect them. Another recognizable symbol is the maypole, decorated with greenery and ribbons and erected for you and your coven to dance around. Tarot Spread for Beltane

Wheel of the Year - Energetic Tarot A Beginners Guide to the Wheel of the Year - Energetic Tarot

Summer is gradually coming to an end, although the days remain hot and sunny. Lammas is the fond farewell to the lighter half of the year and the moment we begin to think about preparing for our slow descent into darkness. The Moon tarot card is about illusion and deception. This card is saying to trust your gut. If something feels wrong, it probably is.The major events in the Wheel of the Year are the solstices and equinoxes, which are precise astronomical moments relating to the position of Earth and the Sun. Their exact dates vary each year because the modern calendar (Gregorian calendar) only has 365 days while the Earth takes a bit longer (365.25 days) to travel around the Sun, so an extra day is added every 4 years (leap years). This sabbat marks the end of the harvest season as the year’s third and last harvest festival. We are in the midst of the last of the year’s entirely harvested produce, and the Earth is preparing itself for the dark part of the year. During Samhain, Pagans give Earth a final thanks for her gifts. In addition, it is a time to reflect, practice divination, celebrate with friends and family, and honor ancestors who have passed on. Samhain Celebration Ritual Finally after the dark and cold of Winter, we find ourselves at Imbolc – the beginning of spring and the end of winter. Imbolc is a time of purification and renewal. In fact, the very name of Imbolc (pronounced ‘Im-ulk’) means exactly that. Drawing this card reminds us that all thing change, all things must pass. So whatever our current issues and surroundings are, it will change. If we are doing well, then it's a reminder to prepare for a time when we may not do so well. If we're doing badly, then it's a comfort to know this time will not last for ever.

This Sabbat is the foundation for the Christian holiday of Christmas and it can be seen in many of your traditional Christmas decorations. For example the idea of bringing nature inside the home, such as with Christmas trees, Yule Logs ( which are still called Yule Logs to this day!), wreaths and garlands. The hours of sunlight start to slowly lengthen and now the land can be prepared for the new agricultural cycle. A celebration comes about every 6 weeks, so there’s always something to look forward to. Each pagan sabbat has its own spells, rituals, and tarot spreads associated with it. 1. Yule (December 19-23) Yule runs from the 21st - 23rd December in the northern hemisphere and the 20th - 23rd June in the southern hemisphere and is the celebration of the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year. Their very survival rested upon their knowledge of the changes in nature and the agricultural year. For without this knowledge, they would not have been able to grow food and have bountiful harvests. The Wheel itself is divided into either Four or Eight Points. When divided by Four each Point is referred to as a Quarter Day and it is these that mark the Two Solstices at Mid-Winter and Mid-Summer. Mid-Winter sits at the most Northerly Point on The Wheel, while Mid-Summer sits at the most Southerly Point. The other Two Quarter Days are Equinoxes; Spring/Vernal Equinox known as Ostara and Autumnal Equinox known as Mabon. The Vernal Equinox’s Point lies exactly mid-way between the The Winter and Summer Solstice and is positioned to the East of The Wheel. The Autumnal Equinox’s Point is positioned to the West of the Wheel mid-way between Summer Solstice (Litha) and Winter Solstice (Yule). As one of the four Lesser Sabbats, Ostara is the Pagan celebration of the spring equinox. Pagans celebrate Earth’s apparent return to life and the balance of day and night during this sabbat, the second of three annual fertility festivals. Wiccans believe this is when the god dies and when the Goddess both reaches her highest power as the Crone and is pregnant with the god that will be born at Yule. And hence, the cycle begins again. It is, because the divide between the world’s is at is thinnest, also one of the most powerful nights to do magic. Wiccan Holidays: 2020 Dates HolidayAs I came to learn more about it, I realised that the Wheel of The Year was so much more than just seasonal changes. The changes that nature goes through as well as her cycles, are an archetypal pattern that the Universe likes to repeat. It follows the pattern of Birth, Death and Rebirth that much like a wheel, is never ending. Use this spread as a means of taking pause and reflecting on what you’re cultivating at this point in the year and what you can celebrate. You then add each digit in the sum: 2+0+1+4=7, keeping any number from 1-22, with the Fool having the assigned numerological value of 22 in any Tarot Numerology operations.
