About this deal

However, the padding doesn’t have the luxury feel you may be after and there are issues for taller folk. The mechanism Anda Seat uses, threading the pillow straps through the cutouts in the seat back, means its position can’t be adjusted all that much. Besides a few quibbles here and there, I can only think of good things to say about the AndaSeat Dark Demon. It’s an incredibly sophisticated lumbar support system that’s a far cry from the usual foam cushion strapped to the seat.

There’s a Fnatic logo embossed in black on the back of the chair and the team name is stitched in three times around the top of the backrest. And let’s offer a final salute to the base, which on your more basic office chair can be a source of much supermarket-trolley unpleasantness. The lumbar pillow on the other hand didn’t really add much comfort, if anything it made me more uncomfortable. The five star-base is surprisingly compact giving you plenty of foot space, but the seat itself is 40cm wide and 57cm deep. These clip onto the back of the chair very easily, and the height of the lumbar cushion is easily adjusted (The headrest is not, which I'll get to). The controls also allow you to move them forward and back, closer and further away from your torso, as well as tilt. As it’s made from synthetic PU leather, the chair feels nice to sit on and, if you spill anything on it, it’s also easy to clean. The AndaSeat Dark Demon is one of their more mid-range options, catering for both work and play, it’s a great option for your home office.

Personally, I think the chair's build quality and toughness justify the investment, but others might not want to stretch that far. It’s the absolute opposite of relaxing, which is what I’m looking for in a ‘rocking chair’ function. There are a couple of other design quirks, the adjustment handle for height and tilt of the whole chair is further back than I would like, and was a little hard to reach. For those looking to upgrade their home-gaming setup at a more manageable expense, the Dark Demon may be just the ticket. Other excellent design features include vents in the back of the chair, used to secure the headrest in place that also stop you from overheating.

It has 4D adjustable armrests that move forwards/backward, up/down, left/right, and even pan so that you can angle them to suit your needs. It also works well as a seat that needs to switch between roles as an office chair and a gaming one. The chair's backrest can also be tilted back using a lever on the right-hand side, and you can set it between 90 and 160 degrees, the latter of which Anda refers to as "sleeping mode.

The Anda Seat Dark Demon can go from dead upright to 160-degree recline, so you’re almost lying flat. The included manual does a good job of walking you through the steps and everything you need to put the chair together is in the box, including an Allen key. The Dark Demon is a big, relatively affordable gaming chair that offers excellent comfort and support, and a superbly stable, smooth-travelling base. Compared to previous gaming chairs I've put together, it was pretty breezy, and I was even able to do it by myself.

Bottom line: The Jungle is a great pick for gamers with small or medium builds who want all the best qualities of a gaming chair without spending an enormous amount. AndaSeat's Dark Demon has everything many people would look for in a chair: A material composition that implies durability and has the added benefit of not harming animals (big ups, AndaSeat), a comfy build that's easy to sit and work in, and colorations that aren't embarrassing or overly "gamer"-ified. All of this has held up well after two months of prolonged and daily use, with no marks, tears or cracks anywhere. You can adjust the arms to move them out of the way, and the foam contouring isn’t so aggressive it juts into your thighs. The Dark Demon may be best suited for those who live in cold climates and aren't burdened with sweltering hot gaming spaces.

A thick leatherette cover doesn’t let you fully appreciate the malleability of memory foam but its ergonomics are just about perfect for the under 6-foot crowd.Either way, this is a sleek bucket-seat that, like the AndaSeat Fnatic Edition before it, feels somewhat more reserved than certain alternatives. But the stylistic choices that make a gaming chair look like a racing seat also make them immensely comfortable to sit in for long periods.
