About this deal

This book explains all the things hands can be used for and also explains that hands are not for hitting. Hands are not for hitting is a story about activities that children and teachers can do instead of hitting. Select titles are available in two versions: a durable board book for ages 1–4 and an expanded paperback for ages 4–7. I would read this book to young preschool age children to help them understand what their hands are for and how many different ways they are able to use them. The book focuses a lot of the fun, helpful, and and loving things we can do with our hand, then repeats that hands are not for hitting because hitting hurts and is not kind.

This social situation identifies alternative calming strategies that can be used when students begin to feel frustrated or angry and want to hit others.Social Situation resources can be created for specific and individualised situations that may occur in the students school day, in the community or at home.

Twinkl Social Situations are popular resources that are used to support SEND students across a number of social situations they may find difficult. This book is also a great way to teach these young ones how to read with the illustrations so large the pictures are easy to attach the words to them. Pages can include limited notes and highlighting, and the copy can include "From the library of" labels or previous owner inscriptions. Also, point out how you can wiggle your fingers, your breath is smoother, your heart beats slower, your neck and shoulders are loose and you can even smile!Marieka Heinlen received her BFA at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and also studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.

Review in the story the page about playing a song on an instrument like a guitar or drum, snapping, clapping, shaking, tapping. It also guides children into making good and sound choices, judgment and decision about using their hands.

Children learn that violence is never okay, that they can manage their anger and other strong feelings, and that they’re capable of positive, loving actions—like playing, making music, learning, counting, helping, taking care, and much more. Discuss how if we do what Tucker did we can calm ourselves down and think of other things to do with our hands. You can easily add the student's name and details and also include their preferred method of calming. The activity stresses how our hands work together as a pair and when one is missing or being used it makes it harder for us to do such things as building blocks and coloring. Music: Sing and use gestures top the song “Skinamarinky Dinky Dink”: Skinamarinky dink, Skinamarinky doo, I love you. Not only does it teach that hands are not to hurt or hit anyone, it gives us other things to do with them. This book illustrates that hands can help us do so many amazing things like saying hello, eating and drinking, taking care of ourselves and others and so many marvelous things and they should not be used for hitting someone.
