About this deal

Incredible take on the whole concept of trauma and C-PTSD based on deep human compassion and understanding, combined with neuroscience and many years of hands-on experience. Personally I prefer expressions like "to explore", "to investigate", "to have a closer look at", "to pause and look at something from a different angle/ perspective". To do the book justice would be impossible within a single article, but I will attempt to describe some of its main features. This book does all that and more, providing a surprisingly comprehensive framework for working with dissociation. Self-destructive behavior is usually addressed behaviorally, but high relapse rates confirm the need to also treat the trauma and traumatized parts.

Healing Fragmented Selves Interview with Janina Fisher: Healing Fragmented Selves

Dissociative episodes can be painful, frightening, and disturbing, often highly so, but hating a part of yourself only prolongs the agony.Treatment advances have helped many clients, but a large number of trauma survivors are reluctant to dive into the emotions and memories of the event that traumatized them. It's not an easy read and may be a slog for those who don't have a background in trauma, but boy, is it ever worth the read. Learning to relate to their intense distress as a communication from young traumatized parts changes their relationship to the strong emotions and tendencies to act out. By far the best of the various books I've read on the subject (as far as I am concerned far better than Lindsay C.

De also provides a video with 3 short practice yoga therapy session options (5, 10, and a 15 minute) that you can do in the comforts of your office to recover and refresh between your client sessions. Thankfully, it has helped me to make sense of my previous therapists limited and outmoded approach to trauma and has highlighted so accurately what went wrong within the therapy room - a place where the therapist became unwittingly scared of her client resulting in there being no therapist in the room. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.Participants will learn how to help their clients observe the parts they have embraced and identified with as ‘me’ but also the trauma-related parts they have disowned and judged harshly. The book is an absolute wealth of information, and I'm going to have to read it over and over to take it all in - there are so many explanations for things that I thought weren't explainable! This is free download Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors: Overcoming Internal Self-Alienation by Janina Fisher complete book soft copy. The path to healing, Fisher explains, is found in genuine self-love — in the desire to care for each part of your personality.

Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors - Wob

Using this approach is so affirming and gentle, true and real that I now find working with this population easier and so much more effective. Frank’s emphasis on the importance of helping clients build empathy and compassion for their wounded younger selves is not to be missed! One of the most extreme, but far from rare, situations that humans have to develop coping mechanisms for is abuse at the hands of a caregiver. I bought both and use them both, but you can do perfectly well with the workbook only if you don't need all the science and details behind. She is the author of Healing the Fragmented Selves of Trauma Survivors: Overcoming Self-Alienation (2017 ) and Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma: a Workbook for Survivors and Therapists (2021). The book is, I believe, required reading for anyone in the psychology profession, but is also aimed at survivors of complex trauma, especially by those starting therapy. It's like a barrier between you and the world, then a barrier within yourself that you try to overcome so you could function well, and so much more. After giving up on going into therapy again, after too many attempts that just resulted in day to day life becoming unmanageable while in therapy, Fisher's teachings inspired me to have another go. We show clients how to use mindful observation to develop a relationship with their feelings, their impulses, and their traumatized parts.

I've been struggling with my demons for a long time and this book gave me hope that there is something I can do to improve the situation. I got a lot out of this primer on how Internal Family Systems therapy works (as well as learning something about Sensorimotor therapy). The intensity of these opposing drives is confusing and frightening for the client and often strains the therapeutic relationship. Readers will be exposed to a model that emphasizes "resolution"—a transformation in the relationship to one’s self, replacing shame, self-loathing, and assumptions of guilt with compassionate acceptance.I recommend this book to ALL survivors, therapists, counsellors and mental health professionals working with trauma.
