Yes it is an MXR rip off, which is why I'm wondering and hoping it can take the extra voltage to do something more, cause as it is it's a bit limited range wise. I had the MXR 10 band, and It had an additional output which was great in FX loop b/c I was able to take my amps preamp out into a daw, while still using the cab. We do try to give a broad indication of the general condition in the description, but this is just a guide. It's easy to find out how good these are BUT be aware they do have power issues and only V3 dealt with them.
